Curriculum Audit

Is it time for a curriculum audit?

Typically curriculum is looked at every 3-6 years, leaving large gaps of time when it is outdated or does not align to your current vision, mission, and goals. Our team works with your curriculum, instruction, and assessment department to audit your current curriculum, and create a custom report and plan for the future.

What is your area of focus?

On your consultation call, we’ll discuss what your area of focus will be for the curriculum audit. There are many different factors that determine the focus, most importantly it should align with your community’s goals and vision for curriculum development. At this step, we determine the areas of focus or necessary categories that need to be included as part of the audit. This focus can change and shift, but instead of deciding the focus for your school/district (i.e. DEI) we work with you to determine which areas matter for your learning community.

What does curriculum and practice look like?

Using your priority areas of focus, our team develops an audit plan to review and determine areas of relative strength and weaknesses under the school’s current practices. We do not take years to complete this process. Our findings generally take around 3 months from start to finish. Our process dives into both quantitative and qualitative measures of success/achievement.

Quantitative: Consider measures such as graduation rates; staff retention rates; state assessment data; student/staff survey statistics, etc.

Qualitative: Staff or parent/guardian meeting notes, classroom observations, work samples from students, comments on student/staff survey, etc.

What are the findings, and action steps?

At this stage in the process, we create a specialized video report for the administrative team and board. Here we are looking at the following:

  1. Communicate Audit Findings

  2. Prioritize Needs Based on Areas of Focus

  3. Align Action Steps with Metrics for Success

  4. Share Custom Plan for Your Learning Community

Many schools/districts continue to work with our team on implementation after the audit. There are a host of resources we provide to you for the next steps.
